SRINAGAR: Unknown gunmen shot dead a civilian at Bohri Kadal area of downtown Srinagar, officials said Monday.
Officials told that unknown gunmen fired at a salesman Muhammad Ibrahim, a resident of Ashtengu Ghat, area of the northern district of Bandipora. Medical Superintendent SMHS hospital, Dr Kanwaljeet Singh said that a civilian was brought to the hospital with two bullet injuries in his abdomen.
Hospital authorities, however, said that Ibrahim succumbed while being operated on. Meanwhile, a police spokesman in a statement said that at 8:10 pm, police received information about the crime incident at Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar. “Preliminary investigations revealed that militants had fired upon one civilian, identified as Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, son of Ghulam Muhammad Khan, resident of Ashtengoo, Bandipora. In this incident, Ibrahim received critical gunshot injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where he succumbed,” the police spokesman said.
He said that the police have registered a case in this regard. “Investigations is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this crime. The area has been cordoned off and searches operation has been launched in the area,” the spokesman said. (KNO)
