GANDERBAL: The pilgrims coming here for Shri Amarnath Yatra have expressed satisfaction over the “comfortable and hassle-free” journey.

Walking on the track via Baltal in this central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, the pilgrims lauded the UT and district administration, especially the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for “more comfortable and convenient” yatra.

“This is our third yatra here, and this time the facilities and arrangements were up to the mark,” said a group of pilgrims from Delhi.

Pilgrims undertake the yatra to visit the Amarnath Cave which is located at an altitude of 3,888 metres. It is considered to be one of the holiest shrines of Lord Shiva.

The BRO undertook the widening of tracks along the Baltal route to provide smooth passage to Amarnath Yatra pilgrims last year.

The Jammu & Kashmir government transferred tracks leading to the holy cave to Border Roads Organisation for development, maintenance and management in September last year.

Another Yatri from Haryana told that the road connectivity here is much better now as compared to the past. “We are thankful to the government,” he said.

“It is my maiden trip, and I can say that if there is a heaven on earth, it is Kashmir,” said a female pilgrim. “The arrangements are up to the mark and the roads are also good.”

Muneer Ahmad, a local horse owner, said, “The new road from Baltal to Sangam is very much beneficial for us. The road is clear and we reach our destination within a short span of time and without any inconvenience.”—(KNO)
