2 R&B engineers among 3 dead, SE injured in Doda mishap

JAMMU: Three officials of Roads and Building (R&B) department including an executive engineer (XeN) and an assistant executive engineer (AEE) were killed while a Superintending Engineer was seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelled in, rolled down the road in Doda district on Monday.

An official said that four officials of PWD- Road and Buildings were onboard a vehicle when it skidded off the road and plunged into the river Chenab near Assar.

“Around 10:40 am today, a Mahindra Bolero, an official vehicle of the R&B department, bearing registration number JK02-CC-0701 was on its way from Batote to Doda. When it reached near Trungul Pull, Assar, the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled down 200-300 feet from the road,” an official informed The Dispatch.

Three persons died on the spot, while the fourth one has been shifted to a hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Executive engineer, Mohammad Rafiq of Poonch,  assistant executive engineer, Kamal Kishore of Udhampur and driver Hafeez of Doda.

Suresh Kumar, superintendent engineer, PWD, Doda has sustained injuries and was shifted to CHC Assar for medical treatment, before being shifted to GMC Doda, where his condition is said to be serious.
