Srinagar, Nov 4: Reacting to the arrest of Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-chief in a suicide case in Mumbai on Wednesday, former chief minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah said that he will condemn the arrest of the journalist despite Arnab Goswami keeping silent on the detention of political in J&K.
Mr Abdullah was referring to the detention of three former chief ministers – Omar Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti – besides senior politicians, political workers and activists on August 5, 2019, when centre abrogated Article 370 and Article 35 A.
Without naming the Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-chief, Mr Abdullah took to twitter, saying he will be the first one to condemn the arrest of the journalist for doing his job.
“We got detained for doing what was demanded of us as politicians – getting people to vote & opposing policies of administrations we disagreed with. We didn’t hear you speak for us,” the NC Vice President tweeted.
“However when you are arrested for doing your job I’ll be the first to condemn it,” he added.
Goswami was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 53-year-old interior designer in 2018.
