Making serious allegations on the State government, which is currently run by Governor Satya Pal Malik, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives for Jammu and Kashmir economy are being defeated by state administration.
Addressing a press conference at the Chamber officer, along with office bearers, the CCI-J President Rakesh Gupta said that one-tax-one-nation was a flagship policy initiative of Prime Minister Modi which has been defeated by the state government. He said Rs 800-900 Cr toll tax is still being paid at the Lakhanpur toll plaza which goes against the spirit of the one nation tax envisaged by Modi for the whole country.

Gupta also raised critical questions about, what he said, abandoning of the ambitious Dry Port project in Jammu. An agreement for the Dry Port was signed by state’s Finance Minister with Dubai’s Crown Prince in February 2018 in presence of Prime Minister Modi.
The Jammu Chamber has warned of agitation if a clarification from the state government did not come before Prime Minister’s visit to the state. The Prime Minister is visiting Jammu and Kashmir on February 3.
