Union commerce and industry Minister Suresh Prabhu today said that we all have to find a way for sustainable use of plastic. Addressing plastic export promotion council awards in Mumbai via video conferencing, he said that Plastic plays an important role in day to day life but it also has the negative impact on the environment, therefore we have to think about the biodegradable plastic or the ways to recycle it.
Maharashtra State Industries Minister Subhash Desai was also present on this occasion. While congratulating the winners, he appealed to the Council and Industry Captains to think of innovative creative ideas to recycle plastics. He informed that Maharashtra had announced plans to develop 10 textile parks and 5 defence manufacturing facilities in the State.
State government is also considering a special cluster for plastics industry where common facility centres will be available to all types of plastic manufacturers and exporters for accessing these facilities. The government can reserve plots for different large, medium and small players in the plastics industry with the help of the Council.
He said, though Maharashtra’s rankings went down in the Ease of Doing Business, the state had made quick amendments and created a common convenience platform named Maitree. 18 different departments have come together to create this single window facility for businessmen and entrepreneurs.
With such initiatives, he assured that Maharashtra will regain its leading position in the Ease of Doing Business. He was addressing a function in Mumbai this morning, where the Plastics Export Promotion Council honours top exporters with awards for FY16 and FY17.
