As part of Jammu and Kashmir Police’s war on drugs, a Udhampur Police team, under the supervision of SSP Rajiv Pandey, today arrested a narcotic smuggler and recovered from his possession 10 grams of ‘Chitta’, a contraband substance made of heroin and other synthetic drugs.
The hash-tag #WarOnDrugs is a major offensive of Jammu and Kashmir Police to contain the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Giving details, Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP, Udhampur Police said; based on a reliable information, a party of PS Udhampur led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO Police Station Udhampur under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani, DySP Headquarters Udhampur laid a surprise naka near Omara Morh, Udhampur for checking of vehicles. During naka checking, Police party caught one suspected person at naka point who tried to escape from the police party. However the said person was taken into custody and during his personal search, police team succeeded in recovery of 10 grms of contraband substance (chitta) from the possession of said accused namely Razaq Ahmed @ Shama S/O Sh. Chirag Din R/O Krimchi, Udhampur who has been arrested and chitta has been seized.
In this connection, a case FIR no. 43/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS act stands registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on
