Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has said, India needs to be knowledge-centric and technology-driven to play an increasing role in global economy. He was addressing a function at a private engineering college in Chennai today. Mr Naidu said India should promote the culture of innovation and technology-based entrepreneurship to seize the current opportunities in the world.
He said India has a tremendous demographic dividend that is waiting to be realized. Mr Naidu called for converting India’s huge human capital into a force multiplier for the national economy by technologically empowering the youth.
The Vice President said the country needs to focus on innovation in education to meet global competitions. He stressed that, the curriculum framework needs to undergo necessary transformations keeping in pace with current trends.
He noted that the country produces lakhs of engineering graduates each year and said the right ecosystem for new ideas, breakthroughs and innovations need to be established for them to make India the leader in start-ups.
