The Jammu and Kashmir Saqafat Markazi Budgam in collaboration with District Information Centre Budgam today organized a one day seminar-cum- Mehfil-e-Mushaira in memory of renowned and revolutionary poet Abdul Ahad Azad at Town Hall Budgam.
The seminar was presided over by Dr. Satish Vimal as Chief Guest; other distinguished guests who were present to grace the occasion were Nazeer Nazir, Advocate Abdul Rashid Hanjoori, Majeed Masroor, Abdul Raheem Rehbar, Mubarak Ahmad Mubarak, Asst. Information Officer Budgam, Atta Mohammad and officials from District Information Centre Budgam and others.
In his welcome address, convener of the Saqafati Markaz Dr Rafeeq Shabnam said that Saqafati Markaz has initiated various programmes to involve school children and make them aware about how to preserve our cultural heritage. He said our aim and obligation is to spread the knowledge of cultural legacy and its broad vision among our present and future generations. For this our youth has to revisit the literary contribution, poetry collections of our ancestors and authors they have left for us.
The seminar witnessed the recitation of poetry collections written by Abdul Ahad Azad by many renowned poets who were present on the occasion. Apart from large number of school children, senior citizens, scholars and poetry enthusiasts attended the daylong seminar. In his presidential address Dr Satish Vimal hailed the efforts and desire of J&K Saqafati Markaz Budgam for organizing such literary events where younger generations are imparted cultural legacy and in addition interest is also generated among them so that they can take forward this mission to newer heights.
