Fishing Association, Bandipora, today protested for several hours in front of DC Office Bandipora. They demanded action against those who are illegally engaged in fishing.
Almost 300 people were illegally given license for fishing in Wular lake, this has posed threat to hundreds of fishermen who are diligently doing their job and are dependent on fishing from the same lake.
They accused the fisheries department of allegedly taking bribes and allowing illegal fishing in the lake. “This has been going on for last three years,” they said.
However, Asst Commissioner Revenue and DDC Bandipora, assured the protestors of thorough probe and taking action against the defaulters.
