Vice President Venkaiah Naidu called upon the government and NGO’s to take up Massive awareness programs and screening of people specially in rural areas as a measure to detect cancer at early stage.
He was speaking in Bengaluru today of inaugurating a new cancer institute block in Kidwai cancer institute. He informed that there are 30 lakh cases in India and only 12.5 percent of them reach hospital at early stage.
He added detection of cancer at a final stage makes it difficult to cure the disease. He also called upon people to change their life styles and eating habits to keep fit and healthy. He recommended healthy dietary habits and yoga to prevent the disease.
