In Uttarakhand, 7 days have been passed since the flash flood hit the raini village and Tapovan ntpc project in Chamoli district. Rescue and search operation for the missing persons continues unabated on the 7th day also in the NTPC tunnel at Tapowan where 25 to 35 people are feared to trapped and also at Raini Village in Chamoli.
Agencies have managed to recover 11 bodies since morning. 6 near Raini village and 5 from the tunnel at the Tapowan. AIR Correspondent reports that till date 49 bodies have been recovered and around 155 people are still missing. It was the same black Sunday morning 7 days back when the natural calamity hit the rishi Ganga power project at rani village and Tapova power project claiming many lives and dozens are missing till date.
After almost seven days of the continuous search operation, the rescue teams have started recovering bodies from inside the main tunnel. Talking to AIR news DM of Chamoli Swati Bhadoriya said that bodies have been identified and they are being handed over to the families. She said that rescue teams are continuously searching for the trapped people.
Rescue teams have reached till 136 meters in this tunnel which is said to be 180 meters long. Rescue work has also started on the barrage area over the tunnel where a maximum number of workers were working at that time when the flash flood came.
