Union Road Transport & Highways Ministry notifies common format of PUC Certificate to be issued across country

Union Road Transport & Highways Ministry has notified a common format of the PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate to be issued across the country. The new common format has been issued under Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 and will help in introduction of uniform PUC format across the country.

The Road & Transport Ministry has said that the initiative will also help in linking the PUC database with the National Register. It added that a concept of Rejection slip is being introduced for the first time under which vehicle owners will be intimated the reason for rejection of their PUC certificates.

The Ministry has said, Vehicle owner’s mobile number, name and address, engine number and chassis number and other such details will all be kept confidential. It also informed that this initiative will aid enforcement agencies to better control the issue of polluting vehicles through the IT-enabled services with it.
