Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari announced that 25.2 KM long section of Silchar-Sautrasthra Mahasadak between Balachhera and Harangajao will be completed by March 2022. He also announced that two new bridges and a multi model logistic park (MMLP) will be constructed on Barak river.
The Union Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone of 20 National Highway projects in Assam and dedication of 7 completed projects to the nation. These projects have a length of nearly 439 kilometers and cost approximately Rs 2,366 crore. The Minister informed that road and infrastructure works worth Rs 85,000 crore will be taken up in the State.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal said these highway projects will bring transformation through transportation in the State.
Mr. Gadkari also unveiled a 13 feet bronze statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at zero point of Mahasadak. It is the first statue of Vajpai in the North East. Prior to this, farmers from different parts of Barak Valley joined the meeting to listen to virtual interaction of PM Narendra Modi with farmers of different States.
