JAMMU: The MetroLite project for Jammu and Srinagar cities are ready to get nod from the Union Cabinet as soon as possible as it is given final touch by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MoHUA) after Public Investment Board(PIB) consent.
Official sources told that all necessary formalities for Rs 10,599 crore valued project for MetroLite in Jammu and Srinagar was about to complete and was given final touch by the MoHUA before submitting it to the Union Cabinet for its approval. Emphasising that the proposal was waiting for the approval in February 2022, sources said Jammu and Kashmir Government has done with all formalities at its level and now everything lies in the court of MoHUA.
The project is implicit to have been given consent by the PIB, sources said, adding the PIB approval was major regulation before putting up the case in the Union Cabinet. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri while addressing the Real Estate Summit in Jammu on December27, 2021 had assured that MetroLite Projects are in final stage of consent.
