Jammu: University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) Jangalote, Kathua Campus celebrated National Science Day on Tuesday, 28th February 2023 to commemorate the discovery of ‘Raman Effect’ by Sir C.V. Raman in 1928 with the theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”.
On this occasion, Er. Sandeep Raj, Faculty of Civil Engineering (CE) welcomed the audience comprising of students and faculty members of UIET and gave an overview of the entire program. The event began with a presentation made by Mr. Ayush, Mr. Pulkit, and Mr. Shahban, the students of UIET emphasising the importance of National Science Day and the contribution of Sir C.V. Raman and other Indian scientists. Mr Anadi Mishra, a student of 5th semester, Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) gave a presentation on the “Role of science and Technology in Computer Science and Engineering”. Similarly, Ms. Shivangi Rajwal, student of 3rd semester CE gave a presentation on the “Role of Science and Technology in Civil Engineering”.
Afterwards, a poster-making competition was held on the theme of National Science Day in which ten students took part. The posters were judged by Dr. Seema Jamwal and Er. Amarjeet Chopra, faculty of UIET. Ms.Vandita from 3rd semester CE was adjudged at first position, followed by Mr. Abhishek Gupta, a student of 5th semester CSE at second position and Mr. Manish & Mr. Sushant, students of 3rd semester CSE jointly at third position. In the end, Quiz Competition was organised in which four teams with four students each took part. Team comprising of students named Anadi, Anoop, Jatin and Divansh was declared the winner.
This event was conducted by Er. Sushant Gagal and Er. Komal Khadotra. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma (Coordinator, UIET). The formal vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Raghav Sharma, 3rd-semester student of CSE. He expressed his gratitude to the faculty members and all participants for making the event a grand success. He further thanked the Coordinator, UIET, Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma for providing motivation and support in the successful conduct of the function.

Vedika Khullar, Er. Shivani Sharma and the students of UIET.
