Two Militants killed in Hajin Encounter, Forces launch hunt to nab other two

Shopian, March 22: An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces at Imam Sahab area of Shopian. Northern Command officials confirmed that two of the terrorists have been neutralised while the hunt is underway for one missing terrorist. The terrorist is believed to have been trapped inside a residential house- news agency ANI reported.

“Op Hajin (Bandipora). Two terrorists eliminated. Bodies along with weapons and warlike stores recovered. Search operation in progress,” a Northern Command spokesperson said. One of the terrorists has been identified as Aamir Rasool of Sopore and the other terrorist is a Pakistani national.

Both the terrorists were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Jaish e Mohammed, a Pakistan-backed terror outfit responsible for the February 14 Pulwama terror attack.

A joint team of the security forces including troops from 14 and 178 battalions of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit of the Indian Army is conducting the operation.

On Thursday, dead bodies of two terrorists were found after an encounter in Baramulla district of J&K. The security agencies recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines a GPS tracking device and a mobile phone from the slain terrorists.
