Training for screening of Non-Communicable, Cancer diseases held under NHM

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 20: State Health Society, National Health Mission, J&K today started a three-day training programme of district trainers of ASHAs of Jammu Division for Universal Screening of Non- Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Common Cancers (Oral, Breast and Cervix) at Nagrota here.

While inaugurating the training programme, Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, Bhupinder Kumar stressed on the importance of training which is aimed at developing new skills of the healthcare providers for meeting future challenges in the field of health care.

Highlighting the increasing prevalence of Non-Communicable diseases including Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardio Vascular Diseases and Common Cancers like Breast, Oral and Cervix Cancers due to lifestyle changes, it was emphasized that the health care providers be well equipped to face emerging challenges of these health conditions.

Besides participants from various districts including Medical Officers, State ASHA Trainers, Mid-Level Health Care Providers and Other Staff; Dr. Om Kumar, Programme Manager, Dr. Irfan Suhail Shah, Assistant Programme Manager, CPHC and other Staff from State Heath Society, NHM, J&K also participated.

The programme of Universal Screening of Population for NCDs and Common Cancers has been devised for early detection and management of these diseases which in-turn would be of great help in improving the quality of life and prevent premature mortality from such ailments.
