TRAL: A top JeM commander Sham Sofi killed was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Waggad area of the Tral hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A senior police officer said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Quoting Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, Kashmir police tweeted, “Top JeM Commander militant Sham Sofi killed in Tral encounter”.
