Tarigami demands probe in shepherd’s death in Awantipora blast

CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami has regretted the death of a shepherd in a blast near an army camp in Awantipora and has demanded a proper investigation into the incident.

A shepherd, Ashiq Hussain Chopan son of Ghulam Mohammad of Gutroo, Tral, was killed in a mysterious blast near Army’s Victor Force headquarter in Awantipora in Pulwama district on Monday.

Tarigami said police should conduct inquiry into the how the blast went off and the circumstances which took away the life of the poor shepherd.

He said the government should pay compensation to the bereaved family.

“The shepherds live a poor life and rearing and grazing sheep is their only source of livelihood. In this case, the family has lost their bread earner, so the government should pay compensation to it,” he said.
