Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today said that sustainable agriculture practices with timely inputs and institutional credit flow will help increasing farmers’ incomes. He opined that modern equipment, scientific research and interest among the younger generation will make Agriculture profitable.
Stating that the determination of farmers during COVID Pandemic helped the economy of the country, the vice President called farmers COVID warriors. He was speaking after releasing a book, Agriculture in India-Contemporary Challenges, written by retired senior IAS officer Mohan Kanda in Hyderabad. He said the country has achieved food security but the need of the hour is to increase protein crops.
Stating that the fruits of research in laboratories must be taken to the fields, the vice president said interest should be inculcated among the younger generation to take Agriculture as profession. Besides making available resources to farmers and providing safeguards like insurance is the need of the hour, he added.
