Rasool family, well known as Ghulam Rasool and Sons Tailors, has been in an allegedly bitter feud ever since the famous shop in Jammu has been illegally allotted to Riyaz Ahmed Khan by the Custodian Department of J&K.
“My great grandfather had a shop at Residency Road Jammu, namely EP 1209 Ghulam Rasool Tailor. After his death, my grandfather Mohd Ismail Khan got to work at the shop. But the problem was created when only one of the two sons of Mohd Ismail Khan was given the custody of the shop,” Irfan says.
Mohd Ismail Khan had two sons – Mohd Hashim Khan and Mohd Yaseen Khan. Irfan is the son of Mohd Yaseen Khan, while Riyaz Khan is the son of Mohd Hashim Khan.
He alleges that Department of Custodian Property committed fraud when they allotted the shop to Irfan’s uncle and cousin, when he and his father also are the beneficiaries and rightful custodians of the shop.
“In 2018, Custodian General passed an order to take action on Riyaz Khan, but there has been no progress till date. Also, the committee set up to resolve the issue, is not disclosing the reports and action taken,” he adds.
Riyaz has been allotted 4 shops, evacuee property, without an auction process, in Kashmir in one go, reveals Irfan. “All of this is against the laws,” he says.
Irfan has filed RTI in the matter, which states that Riyaz has to pay atleast Rs 25 lakhs, and is a defaulter. “Even then, he’s immune to action by authorities.”
