Special drive for Ayushman Bharat Golden Card registration in Samba district from today

State Health Agency (SHA), Jammu & Kashmir is organising a special drive for Golden Card registration in Samba district with an aim to achieve 100% coverage of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) SEHAT scheme in the district. The registration drive will be organised on 11th – 21st April at all BDO offices across Samba district in J&K. People need to carry their Ration card and Aadhar card to obtain their Golden card.


People with Ayushman Bharat Golden card get free treatment of upto Rs. 05 Lakh at all government and empanelled private hospitals across India.


Samba district has total 3,04,510 people eligible for the AB PM-JAY SEHAT Golden Card coming from 62,641 families. Out of these, 1,79,373 people have registered so far. SHA aims to enrol remaining 1,25,137 people during this special drive.


The registration drive is being held at BDO Offices in Purmandal, Bari Brahmana, Vijaypur, Ramgarh, Samba, Sumb, Nud, Ghagwal, Rajpura.


Commenting on this special drive, Shri Yasin M Choudhary, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, State Health Agency (SHA) said, “Our aim is to bring every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir under the health care safety net of AB PM-JAY SEHAT scheme. Samba district has one of the lowest registration levels among all districts across J&K. With cooperation from the people of the district during this special drive, Samba may emerge as the first district to have 100% Golden card registration.”


To strengthen the AB PM-JAY SEHAT scheme in the UT, recently 03 more private hospitals were empanelled thus taking the total number of private hospitals empanelled under this healthcare scheme to 69. 15 more private hospitals are undergoing the process of empanelment. Also, training and certification program for over 600 Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras (PMAMs) was organised to equip them for better support in implementation of the PM-JAY SEHAT scheme. The training program covered topics like preparing for health desk operations, checking eligibility/ verification of beneficiaries for AB PM-JAY using BIS; formulating pre-authorizations on TMS, claim requests and submission of registrations, maintenance of interpersonal relationships with patients and colleagues, health & safety practices in healthcare setting, professional personal conduct and grooming etc.


The AB-PMJAY scheme is the world’s largest health insurance scheme fully financed by the government. This scheme provides a cover of Rs 500,000 per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation. This ambitious health insurance scheme enables all residents of Jammu and Kashmir including employees and pensioners as well as their families to avail cashless quality health care services across public and private empanelled hospitals across India.


The scheme envisions to mitigate expenditure on medical treatment to all the residents of Jammu & Kashmir. It covers up to 3 days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days post-hospitalisation expenses. There is no restriction on the family size, age or gender. All pre-existing conditions are covered from day one.
