Sourabh chairs Kundal’s session on foreign policy at J&K IMPARD

Sourabh Bhagat, DG JK IMPARD, highlighted some of the issues with the J&K overseas community with the officer to be addressed at the earliest, so that remittances and other benefits will pour in without any problem.

SRINAGAR: Sourabh Bhagat, IAS, Director General, J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development, Monday chaired a session on ‘India’s Foreign Policy: Social, Economic, Strategic and Political Dimensions’’.
The session was delivered by 1996 batch IAS officer Puneet Roy Kundal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, who is on deputation to Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under the programme State Attachment for Indian Foreign Service Officers as part of his Mid-Career Training from 23-27 May, 2022.
Kundal delved in detail the role Ministry of Foreign Affairs plays in protecting the interest of India at the world level. He threw a detailed light on the initiatives being taken by the Ministry to take care of Indian Diaspora around different corners of the world including during Covid-19 war like situation wherein almost all Indians who were stuck were brought back in an unprecedented operation which has been the biggest in the aviation history of the world and the 22000 students from the on-going war in Ukraine were also brought safe and sound. The seasoned IFS Officer also discussed the initiative being taken by India in different countries in the world including in Africa for uplifting people from poverty.

During his attachment, the officer is expected to get an insight into relevant aspects of governance including industries, Trade, Tourism, Diaspora, district administration, policing, etc. within the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The officer is expected to be sensitized about any Indian diaspora-related issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir besides interface with Industry and business groups via chambers, which would help the officer to understand the aspirations and challenges of the business community in J&K.
