SRINAGAR: Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu Saturday directed the concerned authorities to clear snow from the roads and important stretches leading to hospitals and other important destinations.

Mattu said that he has directed Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to clear snow immediately on important roads, with a special focus on stretches leading to hospitals, government offices, shrines and other places.

Mattu along with corporators and SMC officers toured several areas in the uptown and the old city to take up on-spot inspection of the snow clearance drive. Meanwhile, snow clearance drives were conducted in lanes, by-lanes, pavements, hospitals, ration ghats, electric water supply stations, religious places, government departments and other vital places on priority.

Besides, Mattu also took stock of dewatering stations and passed orders to address water logging issues in the city.  In a statement, Mattu said, “I have checked the city drainage preparation to deal with water-logging in low lying areas and trouble spots.”

He said that “I have instructed the City Drainage Wing to be on high alert to check to waterlog and ensure dewatering at each and every place,” said Mattu.”—(KNO)
