SM Sahai gets another year at NSCS, Amit Kumar goes to NIA

Jammu: The Center today extended the deputation of high profile Jammu and Kashmir Police officer S.M. Sahai to the National Security Council Secretariat by another year.

1987 batch IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, Sahai is with National Security Council Secretariat since 2016. The last posting he held in Jammu and Kashmir was Additional Director General of Police Crime Investigation Department (CID), a post to which he was appointed by Governor N.N. Vohra under the brief spell of Governor’s rule earlier that year after the demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Sahai’s extended term at the National Secondary Council Secretariat as Additional Secretary had ended earlier this month on September 23. Upon recommendation of the NSCS, the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has extended term by one more year.

Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has also approved deputation of DIG Amit Kumar to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a period of five years. Amit Kumar is 2006 batch IPS officer of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre.
