SKIMS Soura alerts public to deceptive fundraising in the name of patients

SRINAGAR: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura Kashmir’s leading hospital, has warned the public regarding individuals engaging in fraudulent activities to collect money purportedly for patients.

According to SKIMS management, they have received reports of certain fraudsters falsely soliciting funds for patients. These fraudulent actors often present patient reports, such as CT scans or PET scans, issued by various SKIMS departments as part of their fundraising efforts.

It is important to clarify that these reports should not be construed as an endorsement or approval of fundraising activities by SKIMS. Any certification issued by SKIMS indicating a patient’s financial requirements for their medical investigations or treatment is always signed by the respective department’s head and countersigned by the Director of SKIMS.

SKIMS emphasizes that it is not responsible for any fundraising activities, whether genuine or not. The hospital’s role is limited to issuing certificates that validate a patient’s need for financial assistance for their treatment or ongoing medical care. These certificates consistently bear the signature of the Director without any exceptions.
