Since outbreak of Covid19, private education sector suffered Rs 300 Cr loss in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the private education sector in Kashmir has suffered a loss of Rs 300 Crore

As per the sources, “Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 that led to the closure of educational establishments, the private schools in Kashmir valley have suffered a loss of over Rs 300 Crores.”

They said that among the tangible dips, major losses were witnessed among those schools that were availing the bus services or were developing the infrastructure and the regular maintenance.

Quoting the Survey, National Independent School Alliance (NISA), a teacher said that there was a loss of 84 percent in learning outcomes of teachers and students that include the teaching training, academic loss, growth of children in terms of rubrics

Stating the figures of private coaching institutes, sources said that more than seventy thousand students are getting private coaching and in Srinagar alone 30-40,000 students were receiving private tuitions or coaching for the entrance and competitive exams.

“In this season, more than Rs 150 crores fee have been charged by the private coaching centers that includes Rs 100 crores advance,” he said.

He said, “How government allow private coaching centers to collect fees even after knowing that the Covid-19 lockdown was in the pipeline due to the surge in positive cases.”

“On an average, the private coaching centers charge Rs 5,000 to 25,000 to complete the syllabi of 9th and 10th standard and as far as the coaching for 11th and 12th standard is concerned the private coaching centers are charging Rs 30,000 to 15,000,0,” he said. For entrance coaching of NEET and JEE, the coaching centers charge Rs 30,000 to 70,000,” he said—(KNO)
