Shopian encounter: Rescue operation underway to evacuate civilians

SHOPIAN: Rescue operation to evacuate the civilians is underway in the Shirmal Zainapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official sources said that the security forces are evacuating the civilians falling in close proximity to the encounter site, a residential house, as one to two militants are believed to be trapped. The security layers around the house have been tightened to prevent any chance of escape, they said, adding that more reinforcements have reached the spot. (KDC)
