Shopian Encounter: IGP, GOC monitoring operation, no militant killed yet

Srinagar, April 8: In order to maintain Law and order, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar and GOC Victor force has rushed to encounter site where a gunfight is under between militants and government forces in Jan Mohalla area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

A senior Police officer told that IGP and GOC are right now at encounter and are monitoring the situation closely.

He further said that no militant has been killed yet in the ongoing gunfight.

Earlier Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, army’s 44RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Jan Mohalla.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight. (GNS)
