Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday defied restrictions and tried to march towards Shopian.
The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik called for Shopian chalo today.
A witness said that a heavy contingent of police detained Mirwaiz soon after he stepped out of his Nigeen residence. Talking to Media persons, Mirwaiz said on one hand “forces laced with unbridled powers under AFSPA are killing people at their will and on the other hand, resistance leadership is barred from even expressing condolence to the families of slain.”
