JAMMU, MAY 6: In wake of a massive spike in the pandemic and rising public concerns, the Union Territory administration has appointed senior IAS officer Dr Shahid Choudhary as in charge of Covid control and mitigation measures in the Jammu region.
Currently, Secretary to the Government in the department of tribal affairs and CEO of Mission Youth, Shahid’s experience of handling the Covid situation as Deputy Commissioner Srinagar is widely recognised and hailed in the system. At the peak of the Covid crisis last year, Srinagar district was rated at seven among the fifteen districts with the best containment strategies across the country.
Shahid shall remain stationed in Jammu, as long as it is required, and will oversee the Covid containment measures across the region in addition to his existing responsibilities. He has been asked to work under the leadership of and in close coordination with Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Sciences.
Similarly, Zubair Ahmed, Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has been appointed as in-charge of Covid containment measures in Kashmir.
“In view of the emerging situation due to outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19), the following senior officers are hereby deployed with the Health and Medical Education Department for performing COVID containment related work, assigned to them by the Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department”, an order issued by the GAD said.
