Several matters of public importance including the rejuvenation of River Ganga, were raised during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha today.
Sanjay Singh of Aam Aadmi Party drew the attention of the Centre alleging that the government has not taken note of hunger strike by an 86-year-old man to ensure the sanctity and cleanliness of the sacred River.
Ramkumar Kashyap of Indian National Lok Dal complained of the monkey menace in the national capital and wanted the government to find a solution.
Responding to this, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said his residence is also plagued with the same menace of monkeys.
Rewati Raman Singh of the Samajwadi Party demanded that the government should depute central teams to states affected by floods due to incessant rains. He also expressed concern over the drought-like situation prevailing in some state.
Mrs Jaya Bachhan of Samajwadi Party demanded time-bound replies by concerned ministers on issues raised by members during the Zero Hour.
Responding to this, the Chairman asked Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel to do the needful.
