Soldier Injured in ‘Initial Contact, Mobile, Internet Services Resumed

SRINAGAR: A search operation launched by Army along Line of Control in Uri sector entered third day on Tuesday with a soldier receiving injuries in the ‘initial contact’, officials said.

A defence spokesperson told that the area under search has been fortified as more reinforcements have been called into the site. “One of our soldiers received minor injuries in the initial contact”, he said, adding he however is stable and responding well to the treatment.

A close vigil is being maintained over the area to thwart the infiltration bid, he further said. A senior police official has in the meantime confirmed to GNS about the continuance of the operation in the area.

Meanwhile, the mobile and internet services in the Uri tehsil of Baramulla district were resumed this evening.

Pertinent to mention here that the mobile and services were suspended by authorities on Monday afternoon, nearly two days after the army was reportedly said to have intercepted a ‘heavily-armed group of militants’, attempting infiltration along Line of Control in Uri sector. (GNS)
