Schools in Jammu reopen after 10 months

Srinagar, Feb 01: Schools in Jammu region Monday reopened for physical academic activities on Monday after ten months.

After the outbreak of COVID-19 in March last year, the government had ordered closure of schools in the region in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, the students of Jammu region told the news agency—that they were happy enough with this decision.

A school student of the region said, “It has been almost a year now since the students have experienced the physical academic activity.”

“From onscreen and online classes, the students can’t get such an exposure as we experience in physical attendance,” the student said.

She said, “Moreover, 2G internet services was another setback that was pushing the students’ backwards.”

She said that COVID-19 lockdown had severely affected the studies of students.

Another student told KNO while expressing the joy over reopening of schools said that the students have now chance to fill up the loopholes that had remained during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Principal of Government Girls Model School Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi, Anita Zutshi said schools were already open for teachers and students since September 2020, but a very few students were visiting the school.

“Today when the schools reopened officially, all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are being followed properly, we have cleaned the classrooms and have made available sanitizers and hand-wash soaps for all students and staff,” she said.

Zutshi said that a number of students attended the school today.
