Sarpanches fountainhead of democratic power, says Javed Choudhary


Koteranka (Rajouri): Chairman of the Block Development Council Koteranka-Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary has called upon the Sarpanches and Panches of the area to play a pro-active role in the development and planning process.
Speaking on the occasion of inauguration of BDC Chairman’s office at the Block Headquarters Koteranka in district Rajouri, Choudhary said Panchayati Raj institutions were uniquely positioned at this time to set example for participatory development process. “This for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that power is directly in the hands of people, and this opportunity should be made good use of”, said Choudhary.
He said that he wants to make the office of the BDC chairman as an epicenter of the democratic power of the elected representatives of the villages with a purpose to make every ordinary citizen participate in the development process. Sarpanches, Panches, Block Development Officer and prominent citizens of the block attended the inauguration event.
Seeking support from the Rajouri district administration and the department of Rural Development, Javed said he wants to make Koteranka-Budhal a model block and an example of peace and progress in whole of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Panches, Sarpanches and local prominent citizens who spoke on the occasion extended their support to the chairman as they said they have high hopes from him.
