BARAMULLA: A Sarpanch of Lari Boniyar was arrested along with 21 grams of contraband brown sugar-like substance during a naka checking in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that police under the supervision of Showkat Ali-JKPS, SDPO Uri assisted by DySP Prob Kubra Nazir-JKPS SHO PS Boniyar arrested Sarpanch of Lari Boniyar namely Mohammad Amin Banday S/O Anayat Ullah Banday R/O Lari Boniyar during naka checking at Bela Boniyar who was coming towards Boniyar and upon seeing the naka party he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.

He said, during their personal search 21 grams of contraband Brown Sugar-like substances were recovered from him and was taken into custody immediately. A case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigations set in motion, he said.
