BARAMULLA: Jammu and Kashmir Police said to have arrested a Sarpanch affiliated with Bharatiya Janta Party for allegedly raping a woman in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that Sarpanch was arrested on the basis of the complaint of a woman who allegedly that she was raped by him.
The accused has been identified as Ali Mohd Dar son of Ab Ahad Dar resident of Rawoocha Rafiabad. Police said that the case FIR no 26/2023 u/s 376, 506, 109 IPC has been registered in the concerned police station and investigation has been taken up.
Notably, Dar was arrested earlier for being a militant associate in 2017 and was later released. (KNO)
