The National Investigation Agency which is probing the Antilia Bomb Scare case has revealed that dismissed Mumbai Police official Sachin Waze was instrumental in placing explosive laden Scorpio near Antilia on the intervening night of 24th and 25th of February 2021.
A Senior official of the NIA told AIR that Waze who was earlier under suspension was reinstated in the year 2020 and was posted in Crime Intelligence Unit, Mumbai. The investigation further revealed that he wanted to regain his clout as an ace detective/encounter specialist and as a reason hatched a conspiracy to place the Scorpio laden with Gelatine sticks (explosives) and a threat note addressed to Chairman of a major business group near his residence.
The official said, the said vehicle was earlier in possession of Mansukh Hiran, an acquaintance of Sachin Waze. Sachin Waze had impressed upon Mansukh Hiran to lodge a false complaint of theft of his Scorpio whereas the same was taken by Sachin Waze himself. To give credibility to the incident, Sachin Waze also falsely projected the incident being committed by a terror organisation ‘Jaish Ul Hind’, the official said.
After transfer of the case from Gamdevi Police Station to Crime Intelligence Unit, Mumbai, Sachin Waze became its Investigating Officer.
