Rs 8.54 Lakh an hour, Rs 2.05 Cr a day, every day since 2014: Modi govt’s advertisement spending. Know all details inside

JAMMU: The central government has spent Rs 2.05 Crore, every day, since it came into power in 2014, till December this year. The Narendra Modi-led government has spent Rs 6491.56 Crore from 2014 till December 7, 2022, averaging out to Rs 750 Crore every year.

These advertisement include those in print media and electronic media, through the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), official figures available on CBC website reveal.

Incidentally, the advertising spending has reduced by 68% in the last full financial year, as compared to the financial year 2014-15.

As per the official figures, the government has so far spent Rs 3230.77 Crore in print advertisements and Rs 3260.79 Crore in electronic media advertisement in last 8 years and 8 months, totalling to Rs 6491.56 Crore.

In 2014-15, the government had spent Rs 424.84 crore on advertisements in print media and Rs 473.67 crore on electronic media advertisements through the Central Bureau of Communication.

The expenditure was Rs 508.22 crore (print) and Rs 531.60 crore (electronic) in 2015-16; Rs 468.53 crore (print) and Rs 609.15 crore (electronic) in 2016-17; and Rs 636.09 (print) and Rs 468.92 (electronic) in 2017-18.

The expenses stood at Rs 429.55 crore (print) and Rs 514.28 crore (electronic) in 2018-19; Rs 295.05 crore (print) and Rs 317.11 crore (electronic) in 2019-20; Rs 197.49 crore (print) and Rs 167.98 crore (electronic) in 2020-21; and Rs 179.04 crore (print) and Rs 101.24 crore (electronic) in 2021-22.
Incidentally, the advertising spending has reduced from Rs 898.51 Crore in the financial year 2014-15 to Rs 280.28 crore in 2021-22, by 68%.

In the current financial year, the government has spent 168.80 Crore till December 7, 2022.

This includes Rs 91.96 crore on advertisements in print media and Rs 76.84 crore on advertisements in electronic media.
