Rajya Sabha takes up further discussion on Union Budget for financial year 2021-22

The Rajya Sabha today took up further discussion on the Union Budget for financial year 2021-22.

Participating in the discussion Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur termed the budget as a document of aspirations. He said every strata of the society has welcomed the budget. Mr. Thakur said the continuous uphill trajectory of the Indian Stock markets since the presentation of the Union budget marks its stamp of approval to the growth oriented policies of the centre. He said the NDA government has displayed its commitment towards development of farmers and workers in the country.

Earlier, terming the budget as pro-rich, Congress MP P Chidambaram said the budget is a financial document for the rich, by the rich and of the rich. He said two years of slowdown even before the pandemic is a reality which the government cannot shrug and lamented that the budget ignored the bulk of India.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to reply to the discussion on the Union Budget in the Rajya Sabha tomorrow.
