RS Dy Chairman Harivansh Narayan to be in Jammu on Nov 15. Here is why.

JAMMU: The Central University of Jammu will organise a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 15 to 19 November, where Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh Narayan Singh will be the Chief Guest.

The programme will be organised by University’s Department of Mass Communication and New Media, in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, Northern Command, and J & K Bank at the Brigadier Rajendra Singh Auditorium on the topic ‘Media Writing and Program Production’.

“It would be a hybrid mode programme that will allow the participants to experience hands-on how a report and an interview or a feature are produced.  Along with these genres the techniques and new formats which are emerging with content platforms and the rise of program consumption on demand will also be incorporated. Inviting acclaimed Resource Persons from the Television industry itself the programme focuses on the production and realization of audio-visual products from the beginning such as ideation, design, production, and lives on set. In the programme, the participants will get aware of the main concepts related to television script writing and production using the basic terminology of television,” a handout from university said.

The theme of the inaugural programme of the FDP is “Changing Dimensions of Media Education in the Context of NEP”. Giving information about the programme, Head of the Department Dr Bachha Babu explained that this workshop is organized for the youth to help them grow in the media field. In the second half of the inaugural day, NDTV’s Science Editor Pallav Bagla will guide on “Science through film and Documentary”.

On the 16th of November morning Shri Rajesh Badal, Former Executive Director of Rajya Sabha TV will guide on the topic “Media Writing and Program Production”. Then in the afternoon session, Senior Scientist and Head of National Science Film Festival, Vigyan Prasar, Nimish Kapoor would deliver his lecture. On 17th November senior journalist and former anchor, Zee News, Rakhi Bakshi will take a session on “Anchoring”. On 18th November Senior Video Editor, Paramjeet of Aaj Tak will explain “Editing Tools and Techniques”.  The valedictory session and certificate distribution will take place on 19th November 2022.

In this programme, about 150 to 200 distinguished teachers, researchers, and students of mass communication as well as students of other disciplines are expected to participate.
