Rajya Sabha discusses Major Port Authorities Bill, 2020

The Rajya Sabha is now taking up  Major Port Authorities Bill,2020.  Moving the Bill, Shipping Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, in 1908, the British enacted the Ports Act and in 1963, Port Trust Act was implemented. He said, only the major ports were covered under it.

Mr Mandaviya said, the Bill has been brought to make important changes in the ease of doing business in the port sector, and to encourage healthy competition between major ports and private ports. Shaktisinh Gohil of Congress said the Bill has weaknesses and lacuna that benefit a certain friend. The debate is on.
