RAJOURI: In an ongoing anti-terrorism operation in the Kandi forest area of Rajouri Rajouri, the Army Saturday has claimed to have neutralized one militant while another is likely to be said to be injured, even as defence minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pande will be arriving in Jammu to review the situation.
“In the ongoing joint operation with @JmuKmrPolice & CRPF, at approx 0700 hours the cordon while closing in spotted & pinned down the (militants),” the army said in a tweet, adding, “In the ensuing gunbattle one (militant) has been neutralised & 1 more is likely to be injured”
Army said that arms and ammunition including one AK 56, four Magazines, 56 rounds, 1×9 mm pistol and 3 grenades and one ammunition Pouch have been recovered so far.
“Identity and affiliation of militant are being ascertained. Operation underway,” he said.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Army chief General Manoj Pande will be visiting Jammu today to review the security situation, said the people familiar with the matter.
Northern army commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi flew in this morning and reviewed the ongoing counter-terror operations ‘Trinetra’.
Five soldiers lost their lives in a terror ambush in the Kandi forest area on Friday morning. Four of the soldiers killed on Friday were commandos from the 9 Para (Special Forces) while the fifth was from a Rashtriya Rifles battalion.
