Rajouri gets 122 Smart classrooms in govt schools

RAJOURI: As many as 116 Smart classrooms have been established in the government schools of Rajouri district under Samagra, whereas 6 smart classrooms sanctioned under Tribal Sub plan have also been completed.

This was informed as District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, chaired a review meeting on Thursday to assess the physical and financial status of the establishment of smart classrooms in Government schools of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the functioning of the already established smart classrooms.

The meeting was informed that 123 smart classrooms and ICT labs have been sanctioned under Samagra, while 20 smart classrooms and ICT labs have been sanctioned under the Tribal Sub plan.

The CEO informed that 116 Smart classrooms have been established against 123 sanctioned under Samagra, while a minor issue has been reported in seven cases. She also informed the chair that six of the 23 smart classrooms sanctioned under TSP have been completed, and the rest are in various stages of execution, and are being constructed by PWD.

He said that as per the PWD department the work is underway and would be completed within a few weeks.

Highlighting the utility of smart classrooms in the modern education system, he said these facilities help to attract more students to school and bring down dropouts. “Introduction of the smart school system will help to make education more interesting as everything will be taught with images and videos, which will make the class more interactive and conducive for learning, and better outcomes can be expected,” he added.

“With more and more technology coming into use for the teaching-learning process and the National Education Policy 2020 laying stress on the use of dual modes of education, which include both, online and offline modes, the establishment of smart classrooms in schools has gained paramount importance,” he added.

A threadbare discussion with respect to issues hampering the proper functioning of the Smart Classroom was also discussed in detail.

The CEO was directed to resolve the shortage of trained staff at the earliest assure that the adequate material is placed in the smart classrooms.

The DSEO was asked to conduct physical verification of all the smart classrooms at the earliest and submit a report in this regard.
