Rajouri: The election for the post of chairperson and vice chairperson of the District Development Council Rajouri was postponed for February 22 due to lack of quorum and a high pitched drama between the Gupkar Alliance.
For a change, it was the internal rebellion and mistrust between National Conference and Congress leading to deferment of DDC chair polls in Rajouri district.
The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration had won nine seats in Rajouri making it as undisputed contender for the post of chairmanship which is reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The alliance was fraught with rebellion and mistrust right since beginning which is why they had to go the Shrine of Shahdara Sharief late last night for oath. However, only seven of the nine members turned up at the shrine.
Saturday, when election process begun initially only seven candidates from the PAGD were there. In an hour they managed to secure presence of one more that was still short of quorum.
A high pitched drama unfolded at 1PM when the missing member of National Conference namely Khaled Hussain turned up and staked his own claim to chairmanship. This caused commotion in the house causing leading to deferment of elections for Feb 22
