Jammu: A monthly after Devender Singh Rana switched over the saffron camp, the Bhartiya Janta Party has nominated him to the State Executive Committee.
Besides Rana, eight other political figures who joined the BJP in recent weeks have also been nominated as members of the State Executive Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
A communication issued by BJP state president Ravinder Raina said that Devender Singh Rana, Surjeet Singh Slathia, Kamal Arora, Prem Sagar Aziz, Dharam Veer Singh Jamwal, YV Sharma, Somnath Khajuria and Arshad Choudhary have been nominated to the BJP State Executive Committee. Rana, Slathia, Arora and Aziz are all former MLAs. Jamwal is former Deputy Mayor of Jammu, Sharma is former president of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry who was earlier associated with the Congress.
Except Y.V Sharma, the joining of members into BJP is believed to have been mobilised by Devender Singh Rana. A perceptive and articulate politician who spent over two decades in National Conference, Rana is gradually scaling up his position in the BJP by pulling out key figures from the party of his previous affiliation.
