SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police Wednesday said that three Jaish-e-Mohammad militants including a non-local were killed in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Inspector General of Police for Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar said that three JeM militants included one non local were killed in the Chandgam encounter. He said that incriminating material, arms and ammunition, including 2 M-4 carbines and 1 AK series rifle were recovered from the spot.
He termed the killing of three militants including a non-local a big success for security forces.

A senior police officer told that the identification of other two slain militants is being ascertained. Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight—(KNO)
