Public Health Laboratory instrumental in early detection, control of outbreaks: DC Sachin Kumar

Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Tuesday inaugurated the District Public Health Laboratory at District Hospital Shopian.
JDP, Khursheed Ahmad Khatana, CMO Dr.Arshad Tak, DIO Showkat Hussain Ganie and MS DH, Dr. Khalid and a gathering of officers and hospital staff were present at the event.
The Laboratory has been set up under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme of NHM.
The DC asked staff to dedicate themselves for the public cause by averting infectious outbreaks by the timely detection of diseases.
CMO apprised the DC that the facility shall be instrumental in averting public health outbreaks as the facility shall be handy for early detection and control of outbreaks.
The facility, it was said, shall conduct investigations on a wide variety of core diseases including water borne, respiratory, vector borne, vaccine preventable diseases.
Besides, other investigations related to Culture and Sensitivity, Hospital infection control and sample collection for Influenza A H1N1 and Zika Virus shall also be available at the District Lab.
