Says new schedule after improvement in weather conditions: CE, KPDCL

SRINAGAR: The curtailment hours have been reduced by 50 per cent following the improvement in the weather conditions, Chief Engineer, of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Javed Yousuf Dar said.

The Chief Engineer said that the new power schedule has not been announced keeping in view the present weather conditions. However, he said that the curtailment hours in both metered and non-metered areas have been reduced by 50 per cent.

He said that the metered areas are now witnessing just four hours of curtailment compared to eight hours announced during the winters while in metered areas, the people are facing power cuts of two hours only.

The Chief Engineer further said that the curtailment hours will end soon after the weather conditions improve in the Valley. “The fresh schedule will be announced once the weather conditions improve,” he said. Pertinently, the KPDCL in wake of the winter season had announced a curtailment schedule in Kashmir. The authorities had decided to go for eight-hour curtailment for non-metered areas and a 4.5-hour power cuts in the metered areas—(KNO)
